Back again -- after a week training and working with staff on database searching and watching the construction happen! Saw some very interesting shows at Philly Museum yesterday - staying out of the 99 degree heat (!)  India, Japan and Ansel Adams.....

thing trading card

Making these cards will be great for Library staff -- we can post them on our website --  and I can see middle schoolers having a blast with this one!
These trucks are incredible! Colorful, delightful and very personal. The style is similar on many - makes me wonder if there is a certain shop or artist.  My favs were the ones with goddesses in lotus flowers! Can you imagine this on USA interstates?  Would be glorious. This picture comes from Flickr "diskgrinder".

wrinkle ---

Blog this!   In setting this up I now have 2 blogs with exactly the same name and signin  - a bit strange I think.     So in order to get photos in the original builditsummer blog I'll have to go back to the download scenario.  Too bad!   There was something about Blogger Beta when i signed up -[ maybe that's why... sigh!  But the pictures are fun!

thing #5 - Flickr

Found a picture from Flickr I really like and downloaded then added to blog. This may or may not be the most direct path but it works.    Also opened a Flickr account so I can play around with more photos. Next to place the picture in this entry - somehow. As you can see I figured this out too ---- good times here.

The attribution part concerns me --  as I read it all I need to do is say   "Roadsidepictures"  but I'm not sure.....

Success!

This was fun --- painful at the start but satisifying in the end. The cut/past of html address for avatar did not work. Pace the room... smell the flowers outside. Search for other ways...yes, always good. Downloaded the image from Yahoo and added as an element to blog -- It's there!

habits - easiest and hardest

Definitely keeping focus and confidence up. I tend to buckle when it seems that the technology is getting in the way of expression. I like immediacy and when tech obstacles appear I get mad - need to see these "problems" as challenges. Each conquered obstacle is, however, a major victory!
Past experience with other learning curves tells me that it will be fun once I get past first hurdles. and this working alone is interesting - solve all problems myself..... takes more time.

The goal is important to keep in mind. And that is to become very familiar with WEB 2.0 and bring this to rest of Library staff in August

opening exercise

At first seemed VERY simplistic  --- but when it came to the part about teaching others - then it all began to make sense. This is what will go on in a few weeks - so SLOW down and make a good plan.

I never did find where I could enter my workplan. Could only see the list of things to write about...

So I wrote with pen and paper --- arghhh......

is this for real?

I THINK I have created a blog ---!  not bad
